One of five 2021 Foundation Grants awarded this year is to Ag Mechanics instructor Phillip Beard. This grant is meant to strengthen the Agriculture Mechanics CTE Pathway with the purchase of two items. The first is for a pressurized paint pot system and gun assembly. This system will improve work efficiency, work safety, and work quality. Like so many other skills learned in Ag Mechanics course work, this item will enhance the tool inventory that the students will see in post secondary jobs.

The second of the five 2021 Foundation Grants goes to Twylah Beaty to purchase a FreeSpan Straight Rail Lift System to augment the Active Learning techniques that were started two years ago in Mrs. Beaty's class. This lift ill provide a crucial tool to help orthopedically impaired students become more active in their independent mobility skills; specifically independent weight bearing and walking. To go along with this grant, Region 14 has offered to provide the "HOPSA Dress" (the sling that students are held in) . This lift will be placed in the Comanche Elementary Sensory Motor lab for students in multiple like skills classrooms to utilize.
Heather Cuellar receives a 2021 Foundation Grant for student scholarships for to those who successfully passed the AP Calculus exam earlier this spring. AP courses re high-level high-rigor courses by which students can earn college credit with a score of 3, 4, or 5 on the AP test. Mrs. Cuellar believes that AP courses offer the greatest benefit to students of CHS, both in quality of education and level of preparedness for subsequent courses.
Bianca Duran received a 2021 Foundation Grant for Pre-K Bilingual Stem project to help students expand their critical thinking skills. They will be encouraged o be creative while working with others, which will improve their communication skills. Bilingual students benefit greatly from personal interaction with peers because they build vocabulary and confidence to speak English. This will also learn how to problem solve with "playing' with hands on tools at a station. They will have a goal and work together to achieve it or they can just let their creativity run and build and draw whatever they imagine. This will also help with fine motor skills needed for writing. Four year-olds need lot of fine motor practice to become great writers!
The last recipients of this year's 2021 Foundation Grants are Mark Parker and Rick Reynolds. This grant provides for an HP Designjet Large Format 36" plotter printer for technology courses, graphic design and other needs as necessary.
